Some Have Greatness: After-School and Summer Camp

Join us for some fun and frivolity … and, of course, theater!

Summer Registration Open Now!

Summer camp classes will be Monday – Friday, July 15th – July 26th. Sessions for entering 3rd – 5th graders will be from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, and incoming 6th – 8th graders will be from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Registration for Summer 2024 classes will be open on March 18. To be informed when registration begins email Education@SPARCtheater.org to be added to the Education Mailing List.

Children must be vaccinated to attend class. Masks will not be required for class, following the latest COVID-19 mandates and guidelines *subject to change*. We hold in-person classes at our rehearsal space (2172 Railroad Avenue, Livermore, CA).

Teaching Artists from SPARC offer a unique blend of skill-building and performance.

Space is limited, so tickets/seating for student performances will be available on a first-come first served basis.

Adventures in the Magical Kingdom of Oz

WHO: Students grades 3rd – 5th

PRICE: $499

Adventures in the Magical Kingdon of Oz is an adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Follow Dorthy as she searches for a way to return home to Kansas while traveling through a fantastical world, crossing paths with witches, and making friends along the way. Students will create comedic characters through language, movement, and music as they learn basic acting skills while building confidence, collaboration, and creativity. Activities include: Basic Scene Study, Movement, Physical Comedy, Singing, Dancing, and Theatre Games. This is an ensemble-based show, so students will have plenty to work on during class. This program will culminate in a 20-minute performance for family and friends. No previous acting, singing, or dance experience is required.

Twelfth Night (Abridged)

PRICE: $499

Twelfth Night is a classic Shakespeare comedy of mistaken identity. Viola and her twin brother Sebastian have been shipwrecked; each believes the other to be drowned. Viola disguises herself as a young man and, under the name of Cesario, gets a job working for Duke Orsino. No previous Shakespeare experience is required! Students will work together to bring these comedic characters to life with language and movement while exploring themes of self-discovery, loss, and friendship. Activities include: Basic Scene Study and Dramaturgy, Movement, Public Speaking, Physical Comedy, Stage Combat, and Theater Games. This is an ensemble-based show, so everyone will have plenty to work on during class. This program will culminate in a 30-minute performance for family and friends. No previous acting or Shakespeare experience is required!

Peter Pan

This shortened version of Peter Pan follows Peter and Tinkerbell to Neverland where Wendy and her brothers meet the Lost Kids, battle playful pirates, and make Captain Hook walk the plank. Students will create comedic characters through language, movement, and music as they learn basic acting skills while building confidence, collaboration, and creativity. Activities will include: Basic Scene Study, Movement, and Physical Comedy, Singing and Dancing, and Theatre Games. This is an ensemble-based show, so students will have plenty to work on during class. No previous acting, singing, or dance experience is required. This program will culminate in a 30-minute performance for family and friends.

This take on the classic characters is a fun introduction for those new to Shakespeare, and those familiar with the original will enjoy the modern setting. No previous Shakespeare experience required! Students will work together to bring these comedic characters to life while exploring the themes of self-discovery, self-confidence, and friendship. Activities will include: Acting, Movement, Public Speaking, Physical Comedy, Stage Combat, and Theater Games. This is an ensemble-based show, so everyone will have plenty to work on during class. This program will culminate in a 45-minute performance for family and friends.
