Summer Classes offered:


The Class at the Bothwell Arts Center

10-day High School Course: July 5th - 9th and 12th – 16th, 2010

High School Course Objectives:

This course is designed to take the fear out of Shakespeare and promote an exciting, engaging, and creative approach to the text.  With an emphasis on acting and performance, this course will broaden a student’s perspective on Shakespeare by utilizing improvisation, theatre games, and stage combat techniques. Totally on-your-feet, very funny, and never dull, this course is designed to activate one’s imagination and brighten any student’s summer. Students will rehearse scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and receive 1 free ticket to the Shakespeare’s Associates production. Some students may be considered for minor roles in the production or perform a 10-minute skit pre-performance.  No previous experience required.

Russell Marcel (Education Director) is an artistic associate for Shakespeare's Associates (art and A Midsummer Night's Dream), and is proud to be the company's Education Director. A graduate of SCU's Theatre Arts program and LAMDA's classical acting program, Russ has acted and directed in NYC, London and SF. Russ currently directs plays and teaches Shakespeare and Acting at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose. Russ happily lives in Livermore with his wife (Katie), daughter (Zoe), and chocolate lab (Dakota).
